About Dr. Saralyn Notaro Rietz, MD
Saralyn Notaro Rietz, MD is the “Back of the Eye MD.” She specializes in treating diseases of the retina or “back of the eye” which include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal diseases such as: tears and detachments, retinal blood vessels diseases, uveitis and much more. She graduated from SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine internship and comprehensive ophthalmology residency in Buffalo. She then completed two retinal fellowships, the latter of which was under the direction of William Wood, MD, himself a fellow of the world-renowned Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Notaro Rietz has been a leader in retina care in Western New York. In addition to her state-of-the-art Amherst office where she has practiced since 1996, she was the first to bring retinal surgery to Niagara County when she opened a second office in Wheatfield in 2005. Her equipment is top of the line, and she has been first to bring several new technologies to the Buffalo area. She has also been on the teaching staff at the Buffalo Veterans Hospital, involved in the instruction of ophthalmology residents.
